Regularly in school we reward children with Proud Podium certificates and Notes home from the Headteacher.
These are where staff or myself notice / hear about something the children have done that we are proud of or has gone above and beyond in modeling the Aston Hall Way/ setting good examples to others.
The notes home from the headteacher often come from conversations I have with the children, things I see or things staff make me aware of in school.
Proud podium certificates are again through discussions with the children and staff about things they've heard about happening out of school or seen in school. We obviously can't reward all 300 children in school for every out of school / extra-curricular achievement, but recognise big milestones and where children may need the positive boost to support their engagement, confidence or for other reasons personal to that child.
If you're proud of something your child has achieved out of school, please feel free to share it directly with Mr Holmes or your child's class teacher and we'll always want to celebrate it / congratulate them in some way, whether a proud podium certificate, note home or other reward (everyone loves a nice sticker).
Updates
Loose Lips Don't Sink Ships!
Each term, we will be holding a loose lips coffee and cake meeting for parents/ carers and families to come and talk about children with additional needs (Superpowers!). We had a great first meeting and parents shared their experiences and supported each other to take next steps in gaining additional support.
It was a little quiet this term so I will be sending a link in the spring term to see if you would all like to meet again as I know lives are so busy.
Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
Over the autumn term, Aston Hall have been working in partnership with the Aspire Rotherham to develop our practice and provision to further promote our inclusive practice. We will be working collaboratively top gain knowledge of pathological demand avoidance.
The aim of this training is to work to identify and celebrate the excellent practice already in place while the Aspire team offered advice where any further steps could be taken. Together we will embrace and promote all the children at Aston Hall, who are presenting with PDA difficulties, to ensure they are appropriately supported to help reach their full potential.
With Me in Mind
At the beginning of December, the With Me in Mind team held a ‘corridor workshop’ information stand that the children at Aston Hall could visit to interact with the service. The WMIM team gave the children some fabulous resources and a small activity for the children to take part in linked to being kind and caring to others. They set up during lunch time with a stand in the library for KS1 children. The WMIM ambassadors and Anti Bullying ambassadors were there to help out too!
The WMIM team also supported a small group of children working in a Flowers 125 intervenstion to support statagies for anxiety and worries.
If you feel your child may need further support please don’t hesitate to contact their class teacher.
Fuggle
Unfortunately, I have to share with you all the very sad news that Fuggle, our school rabbit, has passed away.
He became ill and was taken to the vets. Despite their best efforts, care and treatment, he continued to become more ill and we were advised by the vets there was little more they could do and were all in agreement we didn't want him to suffer further or be in any pain.
He was a great support to the children in school, he was loved dearly by all. He had cuddles waiting for everyone… We know this has caused upset for many children, We'll ensure any children who need it get appropriate support at this difficult time.
Thank you for all the amazing fundraising support ever since we rescued Fuggle, we have used the funds to support the vet costs and also to buy something to remember him in school.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me directly or contact the school office.
