Health Services

The Pennsylvania Public School Code requires school health services for all children of school age, regardless of the school setting. The Department of Health encourages the family physician and dentist to conduct the examinations since they are aware of the student's health history. Physical and dental examinations done up to one year before grade entry will be accepted.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health mandates the following grade level physical examinations:

Grade K: Physical Exam and Completed immunizations for entrance.

Grade 6: Physical Exam, Scoliosis screen and Updated Immunizations for entrance to 7th grade.

Grade 11: Physical Exam and Updated Immunizations for entrance to 12th grade.

Additional Mandated screenings:

  • Vision, Height and Weight screenings by ALL students yearly.
  • Hearing screening tests will be given in Kindergarten and Grades: 1, 2, 3, 7, 11, special ungraded classes and students new to the district.
  • Scoliosis screening for grades 6 and 7.
  • Dental exams for Kindergarten, grades 3 and 7, and students new to the district.
