The particle theory is used to explain the properties of solids, liquids and gases. The strength of bonds (attractive forces) between particles is different in all three states.
Plastic, wood and steel are all examples of solids. The particles of solids are;
close together
arrange in a regular way
Forces attract them together which keep the solid.
A solid particle can;
vibrate in one position
cannot move from place to place
Water, milk and petrol are all examples of a liquid.
Particles in a liquid are;
close together
arranged in a random way
