Welcome to NCEA Level Two English! This website provides information about the assessment framework of this course.

You will have the opportunity to earn up to 13 internal credits this year in Level Two English. While we recognise NCEA and assessments play a significant part in how you engage with classes, we also hope assessments can be a secondary focus to actual learning and engaging with ideas and each other. For this reason, we have tried to structure activities and learning experiences across each term that can naturally serve as evidence for assessments.

Dates to be aware of - *Note that some deadlines may shift due to various factors but these will be communicated well ahead of time.

UE Literacy

Through the internals and externals, this course gives you the chance to gain your 10 University entrance literacy credits.

For University entrance you need 10 credits - 5 writing credits and 5 reading credits. Not all assessments (even if they involve reading and writing) give you reading and writing UE literacy credits.

UE Literacy is different from Level 1 literacy. You may find some courses in year 12 offer Level 1 literacy but not UE Literacy.

The deadlines are there to enable you to manage the workload. If you need to amend a deadline for anything, it is by no more than one week. You are given enough time according to guidelines for most people to finish it in class. If you need an extension due to illness or other similar circumstances, ensure this is organised and agreed with your teacher well in advance. For the full details, select the link above.
