Where the mashup typically relies heavily upon reappropriated content in all aspects of production, the remix allows the producer a greater amount of creative control over the final product. Only the vocal stems are derivative in this next series of selections. The instrumentals here are the students' original arrangements.

As the influence of music "remix culture" burgeons online through content sharing sites such as Soundcloud and YouTube, innovation through the reappropriation of the old breathes new life into familiar musics. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the practice of the "mashup"; a process by which two or more instrumental and vocal tracks from different songs are amalgamated to produce something original.
