There were many jobs, or trades, available for people during Colonial times. Many of these jobs, however, were very different from the ones you see today. A person often lived with a skilled craftsman for a period of time to learn the trade. The person learning the trade was called an apprentice.

General Store Keeper: a person who owned and ran the general store that people could buy food and other good from
Glassblower: a person who makes objects with glass
Gunsmith: a person who made and repaired firearms

Harness & Saddlemaker: a person who made harnesses and saddles for horses and other farm animals. They would also make and repair leather goods like pouches.
Printer and Binder: a printer is a person who printed items like newspapers, books, and legal documents. A binder is a person who bound or sewed pages together to make a book

Silversmith: a person who uses silver to create spoons, buckles, and buttons

Tavern Keeper: a person who ran a tavern which was a place where people could purchase a drink, get a meal, or get a good night of sleep
Wheelwright: a person who made and repaired wheels for carriages and wag
