The Texas Education Agency awards an accreditation status to each public school district and charter school. In assigning an accreditation, TEA considers:
Academic accountability ratings
Financial accountability ratings
Data integrity
Program areas deficiencies identified through Results Driven Accountability (RDA)
A district or charter must be accredited by the state to operate as a public school. TEA generally assigns one of four statuses to each district in the state:
Accredited
Accredited-Warned
Accredited-Probation
Not Accredited-Revoked

TEA has not issued district accreditation statuses for the 2023-24 school year as the issuance of the A–F ratings under the 2023 and 2024 rules are pending and subject to change.
