District-wide STEAM Mission Statement
To help our students, teachers, parents and community make the vertical connections in Science Technology Engineering Art and Math, from Kindergarten to graduation; to provide our students with recognition and feedback from outside their classrooms; to celebrate academic learning; and to tell ‘our story’ to the greater community.
What is STEAM?
STEAM is the abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math. It’s an integrated approach to learning that encourages students to think more broadly about real-world problems.
Science – A testable question that requires a hypothesis, variables, repeated trials, data collection, and a conclusion
Technology – Man-made creations to improve efficiency (computers, ramps, screws, motors, smartphones, etc…)
Engineering – Solving problems, think [Who] need(s) [what] because [why].
Art – Creative activity such as painting, music, dance, visual arts, etc…
Mathematics – Organizing numbers in a meaningful way
Thank you to White River Education Foundation for their contributions and support of the WRSD STEAM Event!
