Communities In Schools is the nation’s largest dropout prevention organization bringing coordinated, integrated student supports into public schools to meet the needs of at-risk students. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. To help our students achieve their greatest successes, we determine students’ needs and establish relationships with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources.
Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania opened its doors in 1983. Since then, the agency has provided site coordinators to deliver integrated student supports to schools in fourteen districts across Eastern Pennsylvania, providing each student with: a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, a safe place to learn and grow, a healthy start and a healthy future, a marketable skill to use upon graduation, and a chance to give back to peers and the community. Our goal continues to be the same: to stop the drop out epidemic and provide every opportunity to help kids graduate from high school.
