Term 1:
September:
September has been full of creativity, teamwork and fun as the children settled into the new school year. They created vibrant Romero Britto-inspired self-portraits, carefully designed Celtic manuscript foil initials, and worked brilliantly together on spaghetti tower challenges that put their teamwork and problem-solving to the test.
The class has also enjoyed keeping active through gymnastics, multisport sessions and plenty of lively games. What a fantastic start to the term!
October
October has been a super busy and exciting month in our classroom! We learnt lots and tried plenty of new things enjoying every step along the way. We began the month with Anti-Bullying Week recognising the importance of demonstrating kindness to all, highlighting the negative impacts that bullying can cause and identifying the important steps to take in order to prevent and report bullying. The month then continued with autumn inspired art, gymnastics and our very own class assembly on the topic of Harvest. Maths week followed shortly afterwards and this offered a great opportunity to extend and challenge ourselves in our learning. We also played some fun maths games and took on the important roles as maths helpers for the junior infants as they completed their maths week activities. At the end of the week, we all really enjoyed a special trip to Zipit Forest Adventures in Tibradden wood where we climbed, balanced and zip-lined our way across a range of challenging high-wire courses. This was definitely one of the highlights of the year so far! Halloween then came along quickly which meant cool costumes and a Halloween party with a special treat of making our own personalised DIY pizzas. What a month and we can't wait to see what November holds!
November:
November was a busy month full of exciting trips, learning and events. The month began with excitement as we tie-dyed our 6th class hoodies, went on an after-school trip to watch 'Beauty and the Beast' in Wesley College and took science into our own hands for a range of interesting Science Week experiments. We created school maps and evaluated biodiversity and environmental actions taken within the school for green schools and put our gymnastic skills to the test in an engaging pop-up gymnastic class. We were also really lucky to have been invited to the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal warehouse in Cherrywood where we got a super insight into the organisation and setup of the appeal and all the wonderful work it does to deliver gifts to children across the world who are affected by poverty. A handful of pupils also got the chance to visit Christ Church Cathedral for the annual Diocesan Schools Service and were lucky to get an interesting tour of the History Museum underneath. What a great month we have had!
