I was born and raised in Torrington, Wyoming where I graduated from Torrington High School in 1997. After high school I attended Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I graduated from Wake Forest in four years with a bachelor's degree in communications. I attended Wake Forest on a baseball scholarship, where we went on to win three Atlantic Coast Conference championships. After graduating from Wake Forest I moved to Atlanta and began working for Turner Broadcasting in advertising sales. For four years I worked for Turner before deciding to go back to school to study social studies education and become a teacher. I graduated from Georgia State University in 2008 with a Masters in social studies education. After graduating from Georgia State I received a job at Northview High School in Johns Creek, Georgia. From 2008 through she spring of 2013 I taught history and coached baseball at Northview. Following the 2012-2013 school year I was hired on as a high school social studies teacher, varsity baseball coach for White County Schools. I am married to Jana Bartlett, a 1997 White County graduate. We have been married since 2007 and we have two children, Weaver who was born in 2010 and Elsie who was born in 2012.
