SAT and ACT Information

The SAT and ACT are tests used by colleges as part of admissions requirements. Most four year colleges accept either the SAT or the ACT. As counselors, we typically encourage students to take each test during their junior year. Since many students generally find that they score better on one than the other, we recommend that students retest on the one they do best on for a chance to raise their score. Links to both the SAT and ACT website are listed below. There are also general instructions for test registration and study tips.

SAT

To register for the SAT, visit the

College Board Website.

If you have never created a college board account, you will need to do so before you can register for the SAT. Once you are logged into your account, you can choose your test date and your testing site.

You will need to upload a photo of yourself for you test ticket. Be sure to check the SAT's photo requirements to make sure yours will be acceptable.

Free SAT practice is available through Khan Academy.

ACT

To register for the ACT, visit the

ACT Website.

If you have never created an ACT account, you will need to do so before you can register for the ACT. Once you are logged into your account, you can choose you test date and testing site.

Free ACT practice is available through ACT Academy

Some students may qualify for Fee Waivers based on guidelines set by the SAT and ACT. Visit the Fee Waiver Page on the SAT website and ACT website for more information to see if you qualify. Students can see their counselor to receive fee waivers. Counselors will also be able to answer questions you may have about qualifying for a fee waiver.
