Cobb EMC is a not-for-profit, member-owned electric cooperative that safely delivers reliable electricity to nearly 200,000 residential and commercial consumers throughout the five counties of Cobb, Bartow, Cherokee, Fulton, and Paulding. While providing reliable electricity, Cobb EMC also contributes programs to the community through cooperatives and scholarships, news, and events, and according to Cobb EMC, this spread of commitment has made them one of the largest EMC companies in the nation; this makes communication an integral role to Cobb EMC’s success.
Within the past three weeks, I started working in the office four days a week. Most of my work is off of helping my mentor make decisions within the community by giving my opinion with evidence and presenting speeches as if I were a participant in Cobb EMC's program, the Youth Leadership Program (YLP). I also help in official YLP meetings as a facilitator.
The goal of this project is to produce an efficient source of communication for Cobb EMC employees, interns, and program participants. This will be done through generating a subsection of a community social media platform. A place like this is important for companies in general because since Covid-19, intranet social networks have really come into their own following the shift to remote working and are now an essential part of the digital workplace.
