REVERSE-ENGINEERED STAPLER

Entry 1: Disassembly

This product is a Swingline stapler model 717xx. While it looks fairly bare on the outside with its streamlined design, its internals are quite varied from bent sheet metal to plastic injection-molded parts to three different types of springs. Surprisingly, there are no fasteners holding anything together; it is all secured with a friction fit.

Entry 2: End of Week 1

This week, I modeled some mechanical components of the stapler, including the two components that make up the magazine (stapler holder) and hammer (what pushes the staple through the end of the magazine into the paper). Below is a multiview drawing of my progress.
