Here you will find some questions you can ask your tutor to jump start a session if you are having trouble coming up with questions to ask your writing tutor.

Does this connect to my thesis/topic sentence?
Did I cite this correctly/can you help me cite this?
Does this make sense, or do I need to adjust my explanation?
Is this paragraph too bulky? Should I split it up?
Does this sentence sound right to you?
The above questions are not the only ones that can be asked, and it is entirely appropriate and welcome to bring your own questions! It helps when questions are specific and focus on either a specific skill or a specific issue you’re having with your paper. For example, in general, asking about a specific paragraph will get you a more helpful answer than asking about the entire paper at once. Asking “how is my analysis in the second paragraph” will likely yield more specific results and focused discussion than “how is my analysis in my paper”.
Tutoring will go more smoothly if you have questions ready when you arrive, but, as always, it is a collaborative process and can always be worked through on the spot!
