“If you were the main character, what would you have done differently?”
“What lesson did the character learn?”
“Does this remind you of anything in your life?”
“If this book had a sequel, what would happen next?
Write down the main events of a story on separate pieces of paper. Mix them up and work together to put the events back in order. Try it with a picture book or chapter book!
Before reading a new book, examine the cover, title, and back blurb. Make predictions:
Who do you think the main character is?
What might the problem be?
Read together to see if your predictions were right!
Find a book that mentions food (like Thunder Cake or If You Give a Mouse a Cookie), then bake a treat together. Talk about how the food connects to the story
