Touch typing may seem like it’s not worth the time, especially if you’re already confident in your hunt and peck skills. It is, however, one of the most valuable skills you can learn. It may take a little more time than you would like, especially if you have a life time of bad habits to relearn, but in the end, a small investment of time will pay off in more ways than you can imagine.
There are 2 links below.
1. Follow the animated tutorials for lessons 1-5.
2. Practice Lessons 1 - 5 in Typing Training. Do each lesson at least 2 times trying not to look at your fingers the second time.
3. When you finish lessons 1-5 continue to the other lessons all the way to lesson 16.
You can cover your hands with a cloth or piece of paper.
Tips for success:
When you practice typing - don't look at the keyboard - not even a quick peek! Look only at the screen.
The basic position can be easily found without looking at the keyboard - feel the bumps on 'F' and 'J'.
At first typing tutorials, practiced letters won't spell out words. As you get to know the keys, "real" words and sentences will be used. Next week we will use Google Meet to see how everyone is doing.
As always...Do Your Best!
