Meet your director

My name is Stacy Heston. I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and my family moved to Britt when I was two years old. I graduated from West Hancock High School in 1996. During my high school career, I was blessed to have some amazing music teachers who really inspired my love of music.

After high school, I decided to attend Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa to major in Music Education. At Wartburg, I was blessed to work with some of the best vocal instructors in the state and was encouraged to look into vocal performance. I knew immediately this was not for me, though the encouragement certainly grew my confidence and skills. I had grown up working with children and making music was a major part of my life and passion.

I began my teaching career in St. Ansgar, Iowa teaching K-5 general music. After my sixth year of teaching, the elementary music position at West Hancock was open. I was excited to be offered the job and move home!

My husband, Steve, is also my colleague at West Hancock in music. We have three children; Alyssa, Noah and Daxon. Music is a big part of our lives.

My job consists of K-2 general music and 9-12 Choirs. I hope to inspire my students to have a lifelong love of music and to make memories and connections they will carry with them.
