A.3
On this page I will provide a sample learning activity to demonstrate the integration of tech resources. For a curricular resource that guide instructional design I will look at the sixth Indiana 4th grade mathematics standard on number sense "NS.6 Write tenths and hundredths in decimal and fraction notations. Use words, models, standard form and expanded form to represent decimal numbers to hundredths. Know the fraction and decimal equivalents for halves and fourths (e.g., 1/2 = 0.5 = 0.50, 7/4 = 1 3/4 = 1.75)." (Indiana DOE Academic Standards Mathematics: Grade 4, 2022). Using the blended instructional method strategy, my class would be receiving some direct instruction from me the teacher about writing tenths and hundredths in decimal and fraction notations, and then the formative and summative assessments would be done through the tech learning activity.

To make my decision on which technology tool I would use for my sample learning activity I went to one of the Educational Technology Resources I mentioned on my previous page, Common Sense Education. Once on Common Sense Education I went to search their product database and selected the filters the best fit my lesson. For the grade I selected 4th, for the subject I selected math, and then I sorted the results by "Last Updated", to get an app that was current. Prodigy Game was one of my top results, so I selected it.
When in the teacher portal for Prodigy Game you are allowed to create different kinds of assessments for your students. One assessment is called a Plan. I create a Plan assessment for my students and used it as my formative assessment. When creating a Plan you are able to select what specific education teaching standard you want to assess, so I selected the 4th grade Mathematics standard NS.6 as it correlated with the number sense my lesson was about. Students will log into their Prodigy account and practice the plan for several minutes every day. This will be giving them different questions that are all related to the state standard I selected. This helps student learning because it gives students individualized problems to work out and also I am able to give specific students more practice on specific deficiencies they are having. I am able to log into my account and view student data reports on how they are preforming with the content standard. Should I realize a student or group of students are lacking in a specific aspect of the standard and I assign more specialized questions to those students to target their weaknesses and give them more support. This helps me as a teacher because I am able to meet the needs of my students more effective with just a few clicks.
My tech tool I selected can easily be used as a summative assessment as Prodigy allows its teachers to create an assessment called an Assignment. This is only a few questions that require the students to demonstrate competence in the standard material. This helps me as a teacher because the Assignment records the answers of all the students and grades them for me. This gives me access to student data within moments so I will know which students are preforming poorly on my summative assessment. Then I can consider what method of intervention is best for those students.
