We must teach our children and students to be safe, respectful, and responsible with technology; just as we would teach them in the classroom or at home. While laws and safe guards are in place to protect children, it is important that we help students understand the importance of staying safe on the internet.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) are laws that were created to protect personal and educational information of students. These laws also mandate privacy requirements of websites. Though technology is a part of our everyday lives, we still must protect our children and students from the dangers of the internet.
