Volunteer
Our parent volunteers are the cornerstones of our school community. They bring essential enrichment to our students and foster belonging as our students make their journey through elementary school.
"Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mold the present into a
future of which we can all be proud." —Helen Dyer
Review the volunteer policies and complete the online application to register as a volunteer with San Jose Unified School District. Once you complete the online application you will recieve an email with instructions on the next steps which include a TB clearance form and fingerprinting/background check. You need to complete this process in full to be cleared to volunteer on campus at WGE.
Volunteering can look different for everyone! Whether you have some evening hours or you are available during the school day, there is an opportunity for you. Some of the pivotal volunteer roles at WGE include, art docents, classroom readers, field trip chaperones, PTA committee support or leader, fundraising, and more.
"We've been at the school since 2021, and volunteering through Yearbook, the PTA Board, Art, Walkathon, Auction, and more has helped me feel truly connected to the campus and community. It has been really special for my kids to see me involved in their school, and I’ve loved getting to know other families while supporting our students. Being involved has made us feel genuinely rooted, invested, and part of this community."
