ASA DataFest 2024
At Wake Forest University
We are excited to announce that Wake Forest University will be hosting
ASA DataFest™
from April 5th - April 7th, 2024.
What is DataFest?
The American Statistical Association (ASA) DataFest™ is a data competition where undergraduate and graduate students analyze a large, surprise data set provided by a client.
You will spend the weekend working with your team to analyze the data and provide insight to your client.
The competition culminates with each team presenting their work and insights to a panel of judges in a short presentation. Details about judging will be given closer to the event.
At the end of the event, winners will be announced.
When is DataFest?
From 5 PM on Friday April 5th to about noon on Sunday April 7th.
Registration will begin in late January, and all students who plan to be attend must register by March 1st.
Who can participate?
Undergraduate Students or Masters Students
Ph.D. students are welcome and encouraged to volunteer as consultants, but may not compete in the competition.
What is the cost to sign up?
Nothing! Access to the data, registration, and space are provided for students free of charge.
What are the benefits?
DataFest™ is a hands on experience in statistics and data science that allows students to discover what it is like to work on a professional project.
You’ll gain experience working with real and often messy data sets, developing team work and presentation skills in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
