July 1, 2021 will marked 5 years since the initial registration window opened in July of 2017. Reregistration has begun.

How to keep your account current:


    • Go onto your TEACH account

    • Confirm that you have a current email address.

    • Make note of the date your registration expires.

    • Ensure that you have all of your CTLE completed from an approved organization.

    • Mark your calendars, set reminders, and remember to register when your time comes.

How to Change Your Name

How to Change Your Address

There is no fee for requesting a name change.

  1. Log in to your TEACH account: Login to TEACH

  2. Click "Update/Add Education, Employment, and Personal Information".

  3. Click “Edit Personal Info”.

  4. Click the “Request Name Change” button.

  5. Enter the name as it is on your marriage license, divorce decree, court order, etc.

  6. Upload a copy of the supporting documentation (marriage license, divorce decree, court order, etc.) as indicated on the Name Change page.


To change your address in your TEACH account, go to your TEACH account (or self-register if you don't already have an account). Once in your TEACH account:

  1. Click Verify/Update Profile

  2. click Edit Personal Info

  3. Update your new address in the fields where your current address is

There is no fee for making an address change.

Additional CTLE Information

  • If you complete 100 CTLE hours, that 'block' of 100 hours covers all of your CTLE certificates for that 5-year cycle

  • You can not 'bank ' CTLE hours and use them for the next cycle

  • At the end of each 5-year registration cycle, you will re-register on TEACH and attest that you did or did not complete 100 CTLE hours.


Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Everyone has to keep records for 8 years

  • CTLE certificate holders are required to maintain their own CTLE hours for 8 years.

  • Districts and other approved CTLE sponsors are required to maintain records of CTLE hours they offer.

  • No one has to submit records to the state unless the state specifically requests them.

  • At the end of each 5-year registration cycle, CTLE certificate holders will attest to completing 100 CTLE hours as they re-register on their TEACH accounts.

  • SED may randomly audit bout CTLE sponsors and CTLE certificate holders to ensure compliance with the regulation.

Additional Information for Speech and Language Disabilities Specialist Certification Holders

Speech and Language Disabilities Professional Certificate Holders please note: Courses taken from an approved American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) CE provider are acceptable towards meeting CTLE requirements as long as they are documented with the ASHA CE Registry. One ASHA CEU equals 10 hours of CTLE.

Additional Information for Social Workers Certification Holders

Beginning January 1, 2015, each Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) must complete 36 hours of approved continuing education courses for each triennial registration period. No more than 12 hours of continuing education activities in any 36 month period, or one- third of the total hours in a periods length, may consist of self-study educational activities from New York State Education Department approved providers.

This site offers information for licensees and entitles seeking to be designated as an approved provider of continuing education course work for licensed master social workers and licensed clinical social workers.
