Important Information

Classroom Materials:

Required Items:

*Please have your binder with looseleaf paper and something to write with in class every day.

*Stack of Post-It notes (100ct.)

*Highlighter

*1 subject spiral notebook to keep in the classroom (WRITING CLASS ONLY)

Suggested Items:

-Binder section dividers

-A pencil case that can be clipped into your binder

*You are welcome to bring in a container of disinfectant wipes for your desk.

GRADING POLICY

Grades will be determined by a combination of student assessment averages and class participation.

**Note**

The Assessment Grade May Include:

Full-length writing pieces

Projects

Presentations

Tests

Quizzes

Word Work, etc.

The Participation Grade May Include:

• Active involvement in full group, small group, or partner discussions

• Daily Do-Now activities

• Collaborating with classmates in a positive manner

• Following directions/classroom expectations

• Having required materials in class

• Being an active listener

• Annotating the text

• Proofreading, editing, and revising work

• Completing assignments to the best of your ability, etc.

**Plagiarism (taking someone else's work and claiming that it is your own, including taking information from the internet or a book without crediting the original author) in any assignment category will not be tolerated.**

Classroom Expectations...

can be met by following the "Paca P's":

1. Be prompt- Students should be in class and seated on time.

2. Be polite- Students should be polite & respectful to others and to the classroom.

3. Be prepared- Students should be ready to learn. Students must come to class with all required materials and assignments completed.

4. Be productive- Students should be engaged in classroom activities, on task and focused

**Positive behavior in class will be recognized and rewarded.

Likewise, there are consequences for negative behavior or unwillingness to follow classroom expectations. These consequences can be phone calls home, after-school detention and/or referrals.**

Missing Assignments

–STUDENTS WILL HAVE ONE WEEK FROM THE DATE OF ABSENCE TO MAKE UP ANY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS.

–It is the student’s responsibility to obtain any missing work from class.

–Students who were absent are responsible for retrieving the missing assignment upon their return to class. These students will have one week to turn in missing assignments for FULL CREDIT.

–Late work will not be accepted after one week and will be recorded as missing (0 credit).

-Extra credit is not available, but returning completed work in a timely manner will positively impact homework and participation grades. :)
