Wow! We have officially made it to the last week of virtual learning! June 19th is the last day of this school year, I can't believe it is already here, feels like we went through a time warp.

I have yet to hear anything about summer school but still remain optimistic that we will be live! Thank you all for answering so quickly. I am hoping to receive news very soon, and as soon as I hear something I will relay the information over to you. I look forward to seeing you this week, enjoy your last week of school before summer school.

I am sure everyone has heard the news that the governor has approved live summer school and it is now up to the district to decide if we can go through with it. I am hoping that it is not too late and arrangements can be made to make this possible! I have not heard anything as of yet and I am thinking I should hear something this week. I hope everyone enjoyed their three day weekend. I am glad the sun made an appearance for memorial day. I hope everyone got to go outside and enjoy the day!

I added some new things to a couple of days this week. Some basic questions that go along with a reading and some counting. I will keep adding these to the site if they work out! Make sure you click submit at the end so I know they went through!

Last week I asked how everyone would feel about live virtual instruction for summer school. I received the same answer from everyone saying that I would really be a struggle and I delivered that info.

My next question that I was asked to ask all of you is:

1. If we had a live summer school in person, meaning that the governor allowed us to go back for summer school, would you feel comfortable sending your child?

2. If summer school was virtual like it is now would you participate?

This week I added a really fun virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo. They have a ton of live camera footage of different types of animals. I added a different animal to view each week!

I also am beginning to print different work and materials from home and am dropping them off at your house. If you are interested in doing some of this work with me through Zoom please reach out! Mrs Nardi, Mr. Diaz, and myself have had success with Zoom meetings and it's a great way to get your child engaged. I know there is a lot going on at home and I do not want to pressure anyone into anything so please do not feel obligated!

I am sure everyone has heard the saddening news. We will not be returning to school for the rest of this academic school year. I still have high hopes that we will be able to be back to school for summer school but I have not received any information about it.
I loved getting to see almost all of you this Friday! That was a really great experience that I will never forget! I miss you all so much and can't believe our year has been cut short.

I have been super busy finalizing your child's IEP for next year and assume you have all received information about your upcoming CSE meeting. All of our meetings are this Wednesday, please let me know if you have any questions regarding the upcoming meeting.

I will be adding another link at the end of our website to Mrs. Nardi's website. She compiled a tons of resources and put them all in one place. Please check it out if you have a chance! I am noticing more people logging in and attempting to do the online work. I have also heard how difficult it is and I know everyone is trying to do their best and I can see that. I have started to add some daily random activities you can with with your child to keep them engaged, give them a try if you have a chance!

Another week down! It feels like time is starting to move a little quicker these days. I hope everyone is still holding up okay.

This week I began doing some video call sessions and it went pretty well! I know Mrs. Nardi has been doing them as well so if this is something you'd like to try please let us know. I believe Mr. Diaz may be doing the same if you reach out to him.

Me and the teachers your child used to see in school everyday are planning our own teacher parade. I know a lot of you did not get to see us in the Hobart parade and we would all like to see you guys (at a distance of course!). I will be reaching out to everyone individually but we are planning for this Friday at 1pm and we will be able to pass everyones house! I will have more details later in the week with the route so you can roughly assume the time we will be around.

Wow, I can not believe we will have been doing this for a full month now. As I am sure most of you have heard, school has now been postponed till May 15th. I still am hoping this message is finding everyone safe and healthy as we continue to work through this.

This week Mr. Diaz OT site has gone live! Please find it under the "more" tab at the very end of our site. Instructions will be on his page on how to navigate and use it. As I keep saying, I am still on the search for more platforms that will help meet the needs of our kiddos. I will also continue to make flip grids, if you find the time to do them with your child please do, they are a lot of fun. I have something for Earth Day posted this week.

I would like to try and gather everyones feedback on something. I am thinking about requesting to enter the school and attempt to get some of the individual work I would typically do with your child. If this was a possibility, I would drop off the materials that I have made and I attempt to work with you and your child through a video call, similar to what Mrs. Nardi is doing. It would be a lot of work and as the adult present I would need your help tremendously while doing this because I would not physically be there. If this is something you would like to try and learn, please let me know and I would be able to request the access into the building to get the materials.

I see that more time was spent on them and that's great! I am continuing to search for more resources for our kiddos during this strange time but at this point I have not found anything else worthwhile.

I hope this message finds you safe and well as we move into week 2. I noticed that not many visited the sites that I listed and if you did it was for a short period of time. I understand this is a difficult time, and I don't want to overwhelm everyone with brand new material. I have gotten some feedback that you're enjoying Starfall and that's great to hear! The students loved participating in the Starfall acitivies when we were in class. If you'd like to make it more like school, take turns with your child as they go through the various activities. After each page that we clicked the green arrow, I would always have the students take turns with a friend and then watch their friend complete the page. It is a great way to work on attention, and turn taking.

This week I am adding one new thing. It is called Flipgrid. I am going to make it its own page after Friday. Please click it and follow the instructions on that page. I really look forward to seeing everyones face! In addition I am also adding some info about logging into bookflix.
