In my experience during the last 12 years in education, I have been influenced by some of the most hard working, dedicated special education teachers/teachers assistants and administrators that have shaped me into the educator I am today. Of course, I love children, and working with a diverse population has only made me a more calm, understanding, and dedicated teacher.

I hold each student accountable for his/her learning to encourage him or her to succeed in the classroom. Using the ClassDojo points system, students are held accountable for their actions and are able to reflect on why they lost points during our Dojo review.
The classroom environment is one that fosters respect for all, responsibility for actions, and readiness to learn.
Descriptive classroom procedures direct students to the type of behavior they are expected to demonstrate. Continual practice and opportunities for leadership allow students to develop habits that promote learning.
Students develop independent work habits as well as collaboration with peers, through varied classroom opportunities, including small group and individual assignments.
I have a high expectation for all students, requiring them to put forth the effort and work that they are all capable of.

De-escalated challenging behaviors such as non-compliance, physical and emotional aggression, use of profanity, work refusal, and demotivation to move on from an incident and regain focus and self-awareness.

De-escalation Strategy: Offer something motivational for student to earn if they finish/complete their work. If non-compliance is demonstrated because the work looks too difficult or too long for them, then offer a deal in which they finish a certain amount now, earn for 2 minutes, then finish the rest and can earn for a longer period of time after work is completed.

Created Google forms to record student behaviors, and IEP goals for easy sharing and accessibility for all team members.
During the shut down due to COVID-19, I created and provided support for all faculty websites through Google Suite.
