The girls ran their first race against Rocky Hill and Southignton yesterday. It was a good opportunity to judge early season fitness. We had some decent performances for the start of the year and a shoutout to Zoe for competing in her first race and deciding mid-race to start going for it. We ended the day 1-1, defeating Rocky Hill, but losing to Southington.
This is just a start. We head to Blue Dragon in Middletown on Friday. Races are held at Verteran's Park and begin at 3:30 with awards to follow the last race. We've traditionally done really well in this race, so hopefully we can have another big showing.

The season begins today. We have two meets this week. Tuesday at Southington with Rocky Hill and we return to Middletown and the Blue Dragon Invitational on Friday. Alexa is the two-time returning winner and out team had an outstanding showing last year, finishing first amoung the girl's teams. While we have lost two varsity runners from that race, we are expecting others to show up and compete. Looking forward to an exciting season. Good luck Eagles!
With a 2nd place finish overall, the ladies marked the strongest showing at the CT River Valley Invitational in program history. Led again by a win by Alexa Nunez in a time of 18:55, Miranda Dominguez, Nola Pavick, Jenna Fuschi, and Haley Williams all placed in the top 36, capping an impressive team performance. Lots of excitement to be had for the season to come.
On the JV side, lots of improvements, including a top 20 finish and 2 minute PR by Theresa Fazzina. Also, all but one individual was able to finish the race, including Willa Redfield, who completed her first race of the season, good job Willa! The team continues to get fit and contribute.

We fought hard yesterday against a bigger team. Still little learning lessons as we go, but another strong showing for finishers. Lots of improvements and positivity on about a 3-mile course.

In a first ever for the school, Wethersfield girl's cross country won an invitational!!! It's a milestone for a the program and a testament to hard work for the group. Led by Alexa Nunez, who won in a time of 20:20, Miranda Dominguez, Nola Pavick, Jenna Fuschi, and Haley Williams become the first varsity squad in school history to win an invitational. We defeated 11 other school with a score of 76. Congratulations!
Our JV squad gained some valuable experience and is looking to build into the season, as some are very new to running.

We got off to a winning start at home against, Platt, Berlin, and New Britain. This sets our standard for the year. Many of us ran over the summer and it's now time to show what the training can do. Congratulations to Alexa for her first win of the season and to the team for a strong showing. Remember the lowest score wins, so we did very well.

We have a down week, so lots of training with no races. Wednesday we have the townwide run at Mill Woods at 3. Looking forward, JV runners have 2 races remaining, make the best of it.
We had a long, but good day at Wichkham. It's a course we will see 3-5 more times this year depending on who you are. Alexa was 11 and the first finisher from Class L. She got a trophy, but forgot to take the picture afterwards. Our spread from runners 1-5 is 4:40, a time we need to lessen, so the hard work remains. Shout out to Miranda's Crocs.

This will be a pretty big week for us. We have Rocky Hill at Elm Ridge Park on Tuesday. We should run around 4. This is a 3-loop course with hills, so will be a good shakeout for Saturday and Wickham. This will no doubt be a long day for all, but will be a good indicator of where we fit in class L. We will not be running a freshman race and I am still waiting on confirmation of the bus time. I asked for 10:30. JV runs at 12:45 and varsity at 3:45
We got a strong win against both Bloomfield and New Britain this week. Results are on athletic.net. Remember it is a 3.0 mile course and not the traditional 3.1.

Winding trails saw Alexa get 3rd behind the two best runners in the state and Miranda with a strong 15th. We're not going to worry about team score, but times were individually good.

We had a strong showing this weekend. As it is a flat course, times were quick. The meet saw Miranda, Brianna, and Alexa get medals and all were top 25 in the race. Congratulations to Alexa who ran a sub-19 5k and what I am pretty sure is the fastest any female runner in Wethersfield has ever run.
This week we have two meets. Tuesday we have Bloomfield and New Britain at the Cove at 3:45. This will be our first home meet of the season and we are looking for a good showing. On Saturday, I added the Winding Trails meet in Farmington. JV will not be running until 1:30 and Varsity at 2:30, so the bus will be at 11:30. Awards are at 3:15, so back home by 4 or so.

Definitely a learning day on a brutal course at Wickham. I'm not sure running the Green Monster twice is the way to go. Unfortunately, we had disqualifications from the race and I think some of us were defeated before running. You can do hard things! We psyched ourselves out instead of trusting training. Lesson of the day: KNOW THE COURSE.
On Tuesday, we have a meet against Manchester and Windsor at Wickham Park in Manchester. This will be an excellent indicator for us against in-conference rivals so we'll give it a go. Then, Saturday morning we will be running the Connecticut River Valley Invitational at Cromwell High School. This is another big meet with lots of teams. Times will be fast as it is a fast course. There will be plenty of opportunities to see the runners too.

A good start to the summer. Consistent training works, but we have lots of growth potential. Keep working hard.
We have the Labor Day time trial at 8 AM, Monday. Hopefully, we see some improvements from last year and it'll be a good indication of summer training. We also have the Blue Dragon Invitational (course on the left). This will be our first competitive meet of the season. We had a pretty good showing last year, with Miranda winning the JV race and Alexa, Olivia, and Brianna getting top 25 in the varsity race. We were 4th overall for girls last year, so hoping for an improvement this year. Race results from last year are below.
Reminders: *Parents/spectators they need to park at Palmer Field and cross the bridge.
*T-shirts and concessions will be sold
*There's a Food Drive! It's usually only a few teams and we can make such a big difference if every athlete brought one item!
*Awards will be given out at the end of the meet.

I am going back to my old blog to make sure everyone has the information that you need. I didn't realize until last year that no one, besides athletes, had access to the Google Classroom site. So this will be my site moving forward. Info from years past is below.
Chaos as always. The Sloper Relays is just one giant free for all, but the kids love it. I'm happy to report that Bella Samse and Meghan Gregorski got 2nd in the 3-mile girl's race and Kayley Jordan and Caroline Peak helped the co-ed freshman get 2nd as well. If not for the Southington team, they would've had the course record for that group.
Sloper results only included the Middle School race, so I don't know about times really.
Tough loss yesterday by one point. I think it's just a small reminder of why everyone on the team matters. We'll fight another day. I think times were a little slow due to the race on Saturday. I hope everyone gets a little rest today before a big workout tomorrow.

8th Connecticut River Valley Invitational
The day at Cromwell was capped off with an impressive finish by Bella Samse, Meghan Gregorski, and Adriana Mantilla, who finished 22, 23, 24 respectively in the varsity race.
Sorry for the late input of data. I forget a little of the day, but results are below.

Saturday's Meet at Cromwell.
On Saturday, the 8th Connecticut River Valley Invitational will be held at Cromwell High School. This is a very flat, fast course and we usually have some of the best times of the year here. The bus will leave the high school at 7:00 in the morning and girls varsity will run at 10:00 with JV running at 11:05. There will be concessions and t-shirts for those interested.
Varsity will be (based on the tri-meet with Hartford and Bloomfield) :
Bella Samse
Meghan Gregorski
Allison Appel
Adriana Mantilla
Cristin Blake
Caroline Peak
Bryce Cox
Hartford Public and Bloomfield
The times weren't quite there yet and it was just a little buggy, but we defeated both teams at Elizabeth Park on Tuesday. We definitely have a ways to go conditioning-wise, but I think we can be competitive divisionally as is. The times are below. Spelling and grammar aren't quite great, but they entered the times at the meet.
Blue Dragon
We kicked off the season in Middletown at the Blue Dragon Invitational. We had some decent performances for the early season. The JV race saw us finish 2nd in points and 1st if we went by overall time. With medals, Chloe Sisson finished 2nd overall in the race, Kayley Jordan finished 12th, Lauren McAllister and Cristin Blake finished 18th and 19th, and Ava Sargent finished 24th. It was a good showing and a positive sign that we have a good number of individuals fighting for a varsity spot.
On the varsity side, there was an unfortunate incident with wasps or bees on the course, so the race was shortened to about 2.9 miles. The times will have to reflect about another 45 seconds overall. The top finisher and only medal recipient was Bella Samse in 25th.
As a team, we had a good start to the season, but still lack some of the conditioning needed to compete at the higher level. The goal moving forward is to improve that fitness and compete with each other first in practice, and then really show what we've got. Looking forward to it.
