WHS Empty Bowls Fundraiser for

World Central Kitchen

Welcome to WHS's Empty Bowls Fundraiser for World Central Kitchen: 2024 Edition!

Art students in Ms. Johnson's and Ms. Jellinghaus's classes invite you to purchase one of our handmade ceramic bowls to raise money for emergency food relief to people in disaster situations. World Central Kitchen is a non-profit organization that is currently providing meals to people suffering in disaster areas worldwide.

How to participate:

Scroll down to identify a bowl you would like. The prices are listed next to the bowls are are the recommended minimum price. We ask that you give what you can.
Once you choose a bowl and know the amount you'd like to donate, then donate directly to the GoFundMe page. Write in the Comment Box (on the GoFundMe page) which bowl you have purchased, identifying it by title: "I'd like to buy the Sweater Weather Bowl"!
Pick up your bowl next Monday or Tuesday, May 20 & 21, between 8:30 and 3:15 pm, WHS Auditorium entrance. You must remember the name of your bowl for pick up. It is based on the honor system.

How this all works: The bowls on-line are first come, first served! If you are the first one to make a donation for a particular bowl on the GoFundMe page and name it in the Comment Box there, it's yours! (We'll write SOLD under the bowl.) If someone else has already claimed it, then the bowl goes to the first person to make the donation and write a comment (just go back and choose a different one.).

Please note: We will be periodically updating the Google site with "SOLD + your name" info as the bowls are purchased. If you have any trouble at all, please email me at kjellinghaus@westwood.k12.ma.us . I'll be sure to mark your requested bowl as sold.

Disclaimer (sort of): Please note that these bowls are each handmade and contain all the marks of human beauty and imperfection. Ceramics students over time learn to see the sweetness of the tiny "errors" that teach us about both the impermanence and preciousness of life. We hope you do, too!
