Mrs. Friberg's Art Site

Welcome to Mrs. Friberg's Art Site!

My name is Chelsea Friberg, and the 2023-2024 school year will be my sixth year teaching elementary art in Westwood! Before I came to Westwood, I was a special education teacher for three years. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy making my own art, performing live music, going birding out in nature, and spending time with family.

In my classes, the child is the artist, the classroom is our studio, and together we learn about what artists do.  To learn more about my teaching philosophy and pedagogy, feel free to explore The Teaching for Artistic Behavior and Studio Habits of Mind.

On this Google site, you'll find some information regarding the annual art show,  art curriculum, classroom centers, student artwork, virtual art portfolios on Seesaw, my work as a teaching artist, and art resources for families to access from home.

Please reach out if you have any questions!

Inclusive School's Week Mural December 2023

The Martha Jones School collaborated on this school-wide mosaic during Inclusive Schools Week back in December of 2023. Each students brainstormed symbols for what inclusion, kindness, love, and belonging looked like to them, and we organized each mini artwork by color and grade to create this beautiful whole-school artwork!

NAEA Convention Presentation 2023

In April of 2023, I will be presenting a virtual workshop at the National Art Education Association National Convention on the topic "Mindful Art-Making with Nature Journals" and the connection between art-making and well-being.
