Welcome to our technical support page.
This has been set up to try to help you with any home learning issues that might arise. We understand that this area is a little daunting to some and one of the difficulties is the sheer amount of different technology that is available to us to use. Unfortunately, with this increased variation in technology comes increased compatibility problems!
We hope that this page will give you some things to try that might help you self diagnose and fix problems. If you still have touble, then please fill in the form at the bottom of the page and we will try our best to help.
What is RMUnify?
This is the platform that the school uses to manage all our email systems. Before you can enter Google Classroom, you will need to be signed in to RMUnify. You don't need to worry about this too much as Google will link directly with the RMUnify page when you try to log in.
Watch the video below to see how you can quickly log in to RM Unify. Once logged in, your child will have access to shortcuts such as Google Classroom and other useful sites.
Log in by searching RMUnify login or click the link to the right.
KS2 children use Google Classroom to access learning materials set for them by their teachers. It is a place to access and complete work and return it so that it can be marked by a teacher. It is important that they become familiar with the features of the 'Classroom' and understand how they can complete and return work.
You can log in to Google Classroom in a number of ways.
All these ways require you to log in using your child's log in details. If using a parent device, it is important to sign out of your account first before signing in to your childs. This is often a cause for problems and will stop your having permission to enter the classroom.

Handing in work using the Google Classroom app
This is by far the biggest tech issue that parents and children have when trying to do work from the Google Classroom using and iPad or other mobile device.
Firstly you must make sure that you have downloaded the Google Slides app and the Google Classroom App. This will make it easier to access work.
Google Classroom also needs to be signed in using your child's log in. Click the icons below to download the apps.
You should be able to get access to the Westwood website to view year group pages via the browsers that at build within Xbox and Playstation. On Xbox this is the Microsoft Edge browser and on Playstation this is the Internet Browser. You can sign up in exactly the same way as above on both, by using the browser, searching for either RMUnify or Google Classroom.
To access our Westwood Year group webpages, no sign in is necessary - just Google Westwood Primary School.
The following videos give you an idea of how you can log in to Google Classroom using XBox and Playstation devices. Don't forget you need to log in with your child's email/password.
Account issues
One of the most common problems with accessing children's Google accounts is the clash that happens when parents also have a google account and are logged in. It is important to log out of any accounts first. You can do this by:
Open chrome browser
type in www.google.com
Click your icon in the top right of the browser page (See picture)
Sign out
Now you should be able to sign in with your child's account details.
Find this at the top right of the Google Search screen
Google classroom is asking for a class code
Children are automatically assigned to their classroom. The Google Classroom should not ask them for a code to allow them to join. The most probable cause of this is that a parent is still logged in to google and will need to ensure that they are fully logged out before logging the child in. This will solve the problem of the classroom asking for a code.
Asking for permission to access file
The most probable cause of this is that a parent is still logged in to google and will need to ensure that they are fully logged out before logging the child in. Only children’s accounts can access any Google materials put on by teachers.
I am using the Google Slides app on my iPad and I cannot play the video on the slide or hear any sound.
To play video or hear audio in Google Slides you must be in present mode. To write on the slides, you must exit present mode.
Click the triangle to enter PRESENT mode.
To leave, tap the top of the screen, then the cross.
Kindles Fires - depending on the model, sometimes these have problems opening Google Classroom. Since Amazon and Google are different companies and environments, there seems to be issues with compatibility with some of the Google Apps.
Google Slides - when using the Slides App to view work, it can be viewed in two forms - a Present form and a Create form. To watch any videos on the slides you must switch to present mode first. To complete any work on the slide, you must exit out of present mode. This does not seem to be an issue on a computer.
Mobile phone devices. Whilst we try our best to ensure that the majority of content can be accesses on mobile phone devices, sometimes there is compatiblity issues with them. We would advise that phones are ok viewing work, but often this needs to be completed on a different device.
If you are continuing to have issues, or wish to discuss any technical problems, then please fill in the form below and somebody will contact you.
