*Screening results are reviewed and a summary will be sent to you within a few weeks. The summary will include the areas of development that indicate age-appropriate results, as well as those that may require a rescreen or follow-up.
*Child Outreach can help identify children who may need further assessment, intervention and/or services at an early age to promote positive outcomes for kindergarten and beyond.
*Child Outreach wants to ensure that ALL children are off to a good start before entering kindergarten.
Primary care providers are routinely notified (with parental consent) when and if a child fails vision and/or hearing so that the child can be referred for further medical evaluation. Children that score below the cutoff in general development, social/emotional development or speech/language skills are referred to the special education department in their school district. Within ten school days of receipt of the referral, school districts are required to hold an evaluation team meeting, which includes the family. Together the referral is reviewed, and if there is suspicion of a disability or delay, it is determined what further evaluations are necessary. Children must be evaluated in all areas of concern in order to determine eligibility for special education.
While sharing screening results with your child's pediatrician and early care and education program is beneficial, no results will be shared without your permission. Confidentiality is always a priority.
Child Outreach provides information about your child's development and resources that are available within your community.
