Illustrative Mathematics (Grades K-5)

Illustrative Mathematics is fully aligned with the RI mathematics standards, and has been given the stamp of approval by EdReports, earning perfect scores in the areas of Focus & Coherence and Rigor & Mathematical Practices. The scope and sequence of units, activities, and representations are designed to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, build fluency with procedures, and solve mathematical problems that reflect their lived experiences. The IM materials are designed to affirm students as they build positive mathematical identities. Units and lessons begin by inviting students to use their prior mathematical knowledge, funds of knowledge, language, and culture to make sense of new mathematical concepts. Activities offer collaborative learning opportunities and instructional routines that center student thinking and encourage students to bring their whole selves to math class. Student work will be recorded in a journal that will be sent home at the end of each instructional sequence. Hands-on activities, games to develop fluency, and rich classroom discussions are at the heart of each lesson.

enVision Overview (Grades 6-12)

enVision Mathematics is fully aligned with the RI mathematics standards and has been rated green by EdReports. The program focuses on the development of deep conceptual understanding through the use of visual models, targeted practice and problem solving, and 3-act modeling tasks. Students using enVision will engage in problem-based learning as well as activities designed to support procedural fluency. Digital support is available in addition to the work that students will complete in their journals during each instructional sequence. The curriculum includes opportunities for reteaching, building mathematical literacy, additional practice and extensions in order to meet the individualized needs of all learners.
