Middle School

Promotion Requirements

  1. Maintain minimum of a 2.0 grade point average or higher during each formal grading period (1st semester and/or 2nd semester of 7th grade; 1st semester and/or 2nd semester of 8th grade)

  2. Students may not earn a grade of “F” during each formal grading period (1st semester and/or 2nd semester of 7th grade; 1st semester and/or 2nd semester of 8th grade)

  3. No outstanding library fines

Credit Retrieval

As of now, we will not be returning to school, therefore students will have to complete credit retrieval through iXL at home. To earn full credit retrieval credit, students will have to complete two hours of iXL per week. Every two hours of recommended tasks on iXL will equal five sessions of credit retrieval.

For example, if your student has 15 sessions left, that would equal 6 hours left to complete on iXL. Once you have completed your sessions, the student will receive an email and phone call confirming their completion.

All of credit retrieval will need to be completed by May 1st. Again, May 1st is the last day to complete any sessions.

High School Registration

Here you will find the most up to date information regarding registration for incoming 9th graders. Below you will find information about how each school is working on that process. Please contact the high school directly if you have other concerns.

Highland High School

Online Registration begins May 4th- June 4th, 2020

Here is the step by step guide for online registration. https://www.highlandhs.org/future-students/incoming-freshmen-registration-2020-2021 .If you need help or do not have an Access ID, you can email HHS-Registration@avhsd.org for further assistance.

Here are a couple of helpful sites for picking your classes:

Course Description Catalog https://www.highlandhs.org/uploaded/Highland/Guidance/Course_Description_Book_2019-2020.pdf

Graduation Requirements https://www.highlandhs.org/academics/graduation-requirements

A-G List (Remember you need a C or higher in these classes to go to a CSU or UC) https://www.highlandhs.org/uploaded/Highland/Guidance/A-G_List_2019-2020_.pdf

If you received a registration letter in the mail, you should still follow the instructions for creating a parent account in PowerSchool and complete the 2020-2021 PowerSchool Enrollment online if you have not already done so. This is a required step and will speed up the process.

Quartz Hill High School https://www.quartzhillhs.org/academics/guidance

" We will be mailing out letters to the students that are zoned for us later this week with instructions on how to enroll. Students can also check the website under School Counseling or future students starting next week for updated information".

Lancaster High School https://sites.google.com/avhsd.org/lnhscounseling

"We have dates for incoming 9th grade Enrollment and Course Selection!

The week of May 4th, parents with students who are zoned to attend Lancaster High School will receive PowerSchool Enrollment (PSE) instructions and login information via US mail. They must complete Enrollment before they can choose classes. If they still have their login information from the high school counselor visits, they can complete the Enrollment portion at any time prior to selecting classes. If they discarded that information, or never received it due to the COVID-19 shutdown, they will receive it the week of 5/4. There is no "priority" for classes based on when they complete PSE, but they won't be able to choose classes online until this portion is completed.

Parents/students of incoming 9th graders will be able to log in and choose classes for the 2020-2021 school year using their Lancaster High School PowerSchool info beginning on 5/11. Going forward, updates will be posted via our School Counseling link at the bottom of the lancasterhs.org website. Counseling staff contact information is located there if they have questions, and information will be updated as necessary.

Note: If parents applied for Open Enrollment, we do not yet have confirmation of approvals from the high school district. Those parents will be contacted when we receive that information and until then, they should Enroll and Register at their home school of attendance."
