3rd Grade Artists will explore a wide variety of art materials and techniques throughout the year, including drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, clay, weaving, and sculpture. We will work on both 2D and 3D projects and many of our units of study will complement the classroom curriculum. We will also incorporate art history, literature, and music and focus on working from direct observation.

- Doodle Names (crayon and watercolor resist)
- Monochromatic paper relief sculpture dots inspired by The Dot
- Leaf monoprints with colored pencil embellishment
- Observational drawing of trees (charcoal)
- Night sky/tree perspective paintings inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe
- Poetry morning artwork:
- Glue and pastel nature drawings
- Terra cotta clay looms & weavings
- Woven paper snowflakes
- Op Art line drawings
- Reduction printmaking
- Onomatopoeia Pop Art paintings
- Matisse-inspired paper cuts
- Japanese paper cut notans
