James and the Giant Peach
If you are looking for an event where you will be laughing, smiling, and having a “terror-ific-ly” “ fan-tas-ma-rific”time then you should watch Weston Middle School’s Winter Production, the musical James and the Giant Peach. I guarantee you will not regret going. I have interviewed the producer Mrs. Higgins- Reardon to give us some info.
Q&A With Mrs. Higgins-Reardon
RC: Can you tell me a little about James and the Giant Peach?
Mrs. HR James and the Giant Peach Jr. is a musical based on the book by Roald Dahl. A young boy loses his parents and is given into the care of his two terrible aunts. When sent by his aunts to chop down an old peach tree in their garden, a mysterious man helps James make a magic potion meant to change his life. But the magic goes awry; growing a giant peach, and launching James on a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.
RC: What inspired you to pick this particular production?
Mrs. HR: I loved the book as a kid. And I needed a production that had a large cast, as we have many talented performers in our drama club. When I read the script and heard the songs, I knew that this would be a really fun story with excellent opportunities for many students.
RC: Is there a specific scene that you love?
Mrs. HR: Anything with the two aunts in them. They are characters you love to hate.
RC: Why should the Weston Community not miss the opportunity of seeing James and the Giant Peach?
Mrs. HR: As I mentioned before, this is a talented group of performers. The story is larger than life (in more ways than one) and will be fun for the whole family!
RC: How can people get involved with stage crew?
Mrs. HR: Stage crew is a drop-in activity, which means that you can come whenever you have time! They meet most Fridays and some Wednesdays. To get the stage crew schedule, join the google classroom : 4rqh3f7
Or just listen to the announcements!
