Above are paintings that I took from a slideshow my teacher presented. I took these either due to the color composition or the design/orientation of the art. For example, to the far left, the image is reminiscent of brass instruments, utilizing the bending of the art to portray the roundness of brass instruments such as the Tuba or Trumpet, along with the yellow color aligned with the red and white. The painting right next to it appealed me because of how the vibrant colors are compared to the dark navy blue background, which makes their lovely color stand out. The colors also remind me of night sky or can be used to create a city theme. The middle painting uses different shades of blue combined with black and white, which reminded me of lightning, the randomness of the design helping with that. I also like it when different shades of blue are next to each other, as it gives more detail to each color and they work together nicely. As for the painting to the right of it, orange and black is a great combination in general, but orange outline over black is much better in design, In addition, the dark tone of the painting gives a lot of emotion as it portrays the darkest feelings we have. Finally, for the one to the far right the light sea blue meshes with the darker blue nicely as I have stated before, but it also complements the red-orange gradient it surrounds, giving it that island feel with the coral colors. In addition, it also works really well with the magenta background, giving that comparison between it & the magenta and it & the red-orange gradient. This painting reminds me a lot of Japan.
Above are some pictures I took from the music video "Shelter" by Porter Robinson and Madeon. The scenes in the music video are what I consider to be godly; they seem supernatural, just like a dream world where everything is majestic and impressive. It is depicted in a more anime-style fashion, but the environment doesn't look cartoony at all. In a way, that may be one of the strengths of anime, how the character is just a cartoon to represent those it relates to, while it combines with a more realistic-looking environment to improve the overall feel. In addition, the song itself and the lyrics to Shelter present a vibe of happiness, a song about prevailing and always being watched over and protected. That being said, the music video depicts a much more sadder story, contrary to the song's overall vibe, which gives the song more emotion since its both happy and sad. Combined with the amazing graphics and scenes, this is probably one of the best music videos I've ever watched. I also watched this video at a time when I was feeling deep distress, so I did relate to the overall feel of this video.
Above are some more images I found from music audio videos. They all represent some type of supernatural aspect that makes the theme feel especially dreamy. They all come from EDM music videos, which is I guess a reason why I like EDM. The association of it with these pictures enhances the overall feel, since EDM is mysterious and yet still beautiful.
Below will be other art pieces that I take inspiration from due to the following reasons above (they will also be on my Pinterest Favorites Page)
