WHS leaders plan departure from Weston
In a way this draws parallels to the article I read(described in the personal statement) about the 2020 election. We as the consumers tend to downplay the role that journalism plays in forming our understanding of the realities of the country. Some americans don't care about the election or any world event. In a similar way, a high schooler may not even worry nor care about changes that happen at a higher up school administrative level. However, this time in school was a sensitive time. The school district was still attempting to recover from Covid, Weston town residents were in growing dissatisfaction with the amount of the town budget allocated to Weston schools, and the trust between the teachers union and the school committee was deteriorating more and more as a result of disagreement over a new teacher contract. Good leadership was imperative, and change in leadership at the time had the ability to either work out really well or really badly. Through this hard news story and a presentation of these facts I attempted to draw this picture while refraining from any opinions on what the school district should do next. The truth is all around us, we see it and we acknowledge it. However, it's the facts presented by the journalist that feeds the reader's understanding of the difference between big breaking news and regular boring news.

WHS looking to improve system of data management
Once again painting a picture. A student who heard this news through gossip and believed it to be no big deal would misunderstand the weight that the situation held. The technology department's initiative on data management was extremely under the radar, but it was an initiative that would cause massive change to almost every department in the school, and I had the privilege to be able to report on that change and paint that picture. I believe the biggest thing that would make a student downplay the impact of this news is a lack of understanding of just how big a part data management plays in school life. In order to develop that understanding this article ended up also being a heavily researched article about the WHS data management system. I once again painted a picture for the reader by explaining the centrality of the Infinite Campus software and how all the other softwares feed off each other in order to create an amazing system of data storage and transportation.
