These schools serve Preschool through Grade 3, and are designed to take advantage of the natural curiosity of children. Teachers work in grade level teams that tailor teaching to meet the needs of their own diverse group of students. The emphasis is on flexibility and individualization of instruction. Students and teachers are supported by specialists, tutors, aides, and volunteers.
Each classroom will include experiences with cooperative learning, the writing process, technology and library services, as well as classes in Art, Music, and Physical Education to expand the breadth of student experience. Spanish instruction begins in Grade 1.

WMS begins an important transition as students develop socially and academically into young adulthood. Beginning in Grade 6, students will attend different classes for different subjects for the first time, but are still supported by a strong network of specialists, tutors, aides, and volunteers. Students beginning middle school are also expected to choose a World Language to study for the three years they will attend this school. ELE Classes are considered an equivalent to a World Language class. Students have access to extensive library services, a language laboratory, and a networked computer laboratory.
The students are divided into a “House” system, through which students are taught the same curriculum, but assigned to different “houses,” allowing for a more personalized and supervised educational experience.
