Welcome! My name is Kelly Vivanco, and I am graduating from Westmont College with my Multisubject Elementary Teaching Credential.
Before moving to California for college, I grew up in the mountainous metropolitan outskirts of Mexico City in a binational and multicultural family. At Westmont, I majored in Liberal Studies, Elementary Education, with a concentration in Performing Arts. I am passionate about including the arts in education, and I have always enjoyed writing prose and poetry as well as singing and participating in choirs. I have played the piano since age 7. I also enjoy swimming and running and grew up loving gymnastics and basketball.
Over the last several years, I have had the privilege of observing and teaching in classrooms in Mexico, India, and the United States. Through my Westmont preprofessional and student teaching placements, I have gained experience in a 4th grade class in a Dual-Language Immersion charter school, a multilingual TK/Kindergarten combo class in a public school, and a 3rd grade class as well as an ELD third grade group for my full-time student teaching. My hope is for my students to discover a love of learning and to become lifelong learners full of curiosity and wonder about the world.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. Please feel free to continue exploring my ePortfolio!
