Introduction
I was born and raised in Santa Barbara and am so grateful for the Christian school education I received Kindergarten through post-grad in this amazing town. My elementary and high school experiences provided me with life-long connections, and the credential program at Westmont has given me a community valuing faith, authenticity, and wonder.
In the fall I was blessed to attend daily classes with nine other amazing future teachers who inspired me and pushed me to grow. At the same time I was teaching eight hours a week at Canalino Elementary in a third-fourth combo class. I found myself learning the most when I was working hands-on with students. This past semester I completed my student teaching with a second grade class at Vieja Valley. Here I learned the importance of showing up daily, loving your students, and fostering a classroom of respect.
Educational Philosophy
Students ask wonderful questions and have innate curiosities about the world around them. I believe that there is so much I can learn from my students. I think the classroom should be a space where everyone's voice is heard, a place where students are comfortable to ask questions, and a place where we all learn from one another. If you take time to listen to your students, you can begin to see the world in a new way.
I have always loved to learn and part of the reason I knew I wanted to be a teacher growing up was because I wanted to help foster that passion for learning in others. In my classroom I will always try to support students' curiosities.

When applying to schools, I was asked to reflect on how my faith plays a role in my job as a teacher, and I think my faith is essential to teaching.
