Hello! My name is Alyssa Hernandez. I've grown up in a family of educators. In fact, my dad would take me to "Take your daughter to work days" where I got to sit in his elementary classroom and watch the joy he exuberated during every lesson. I knew, "this job would never be boring and there is so much I could learn from it." I am currently a student teacher in a fifth grade classroom at Cleveland Elementary. I grew up in Santa Barbara and stayed local during my college years at Westmont College. I graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Spanish Minor and am currently finishing my multiple subject teaching credential. I believe that if you love what you do, it will never be just a job, it will be a never-ending adventure. I love being with both kids and teens because there is so much to learn from them. Their minds are full of curiosity and wonder. At such a young age they know so much about friendship, trust, and joy. I am a teacher who wants to learn alongside my students and get to know who they are outside of the classroom. I am committed to laughing at my mistakes before criticizing, collaborating with my colleagues, and reflecting on my teaching.
