Every student will create and conduct their very own psychological study where they will investigate one facet of human behavior.
Students also participate in a mock trial of the human mind where we debate free will and brain abnormalities.
This class is perfect for those students interested in careers where they will work or help people, such as teachers, counselors, police officers and social workers!
Topics include history, methodology, biopsychology, sensation, perception, learning, motivation, cognition, abnormal behavior, personality theory, social psychology, and other relevant topics. Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the science of Psychology and how to apply it to their own lives.
Sociologists investigate and seek to understand the structure of groups, organizations, and societies and how people interact within these contexts. Since most human behavior is social, the subject matter of sociology ranges from the intimate family to the internet; from organized crime to religious traditions; and from the divisions of race, gender and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture.
