Certified Nurse Aide
This year long, double-blocked program is designed for students who are 16 years-of-age or older and are interested in a career in nursing. Upon successful completion of this class, students can take the state exam to become a certified nursing assistant.
Prerequisite (classes you must take first): Intro to Health Science or completion of 3rd level of PLTW Biomedical Science, Biology, must be 16 or older
In addition, all students will be required to show the following for Clinical Entry due the first day of the school year:
• Proof of Covid Vaccination
• Immunization Record
• Negative proof for TB test
• Background Check and Drug screening information will be given in class, depending on the expectation from our clinical sites.

Important Class Projects
Students will complete units that will train them to perform patient and/or resident care in the role of a nurse aide. Topics include:
Nutrition and Hydration
Bowel and Bladder Training
Bathing, Dressing and Grooming
Transfers, Positioning and Turning
Vital Signs and Personal Care
First Aide and Safety
Infection Control
Who should take this class?
This class is for students who know they want to go into a nursing career and want to prepare for the CNA exam as a high school student.
You must be 16 or older to take this class.
Other Info you should know
This class will take up two class periods in your schedule! Students will also be given the opportunity to complete their clinicals at an off-site location, which is required for students to earn their CNA license.
Students may be responsible for the purchase of scrubs, the cost of a CPR Certification Card and other related fees.
Students are required to complete a background check and drug testing prior to participating in the clinical placement.
