At different levels of Acting, students can expect to learn and participate in the following theatrical experiences and activities:
In advanced levels of Acting, students will prepare competition pieces that are suitable for ThesCon (Colorado Thespian Conference), regardless of whether or not they actually attend the event.
Anyone who enjoys acting or who would like to learn how to act!
These classes will also help you perfect your public-speaking skills which will be useful your ENTIRE life in other classes, interviewing and public presentations!
Throughout the courses, we will also create whole group scenes and play theatre games as we work to build a confident presence on stage. Join us for an exciting introduction to Theatre at Westy!
In order to be successful, students do need to actively participate in the performances and need to be willing to take risks!
Acting 1: This course is an overview of the world of drama and includes the exploration of pantomime, improvisation, and monologues. Students discover the complexity and rewards of acting as a performing art.
Acting 2: This year long course is designed for the serious theater student. Students will develop a personal style of acting, ensemble building skills, an understanding of the production process, and how dramatic literature is a reflection of the human experience.
Acting 3: This course is designed for those students interested in the study of theater as it has evolved over hundreds of years! As we learn about the different kinds of acting, we will also practice and perform in those styles.
Acting 4:
