At Westland High School, we are proudly continuing the legacy of local legends, developing vital outdoor skills and fostering strong connections with nature. From middle school through to Year 13, we offer a progressive outdoor education program designed to meet students where they are and guide them toward new challenges and growth.

We believe in finding adventure at every level. For some students, that might mean venturing off-track through the lush bush and scaling the rugged West Coast mountain tops. For others, it could be floating peacefully through the tranquil waters of the Hokitika Gorge. Regardless of the activity, we celebrate and respect each student’s comfort zone, while also encouraging them to collectively challenge themselves, solve problems, and grow in this incredible outdoor environment.
