At Westland High School we embrace each student’s unique needs, potential, and culture. International students have additional support networks.

Each student is allocated to a hapū group. Each hapū is divided into whānau groups that are made up of students from years 7 to 13. The whānau groups meet each morning for registration and information sharing. The whānau teacher provides the first pastoral care level, with career guidance, goal setting and general welfare.
The Hapū are named in English and Māori and have primary colours used on special occasions e.g. sports day

- Learning Support from Te Whare Atawhai (The House of Kindness) nurtures and supports special needs students and other students who need extra learning support.
