Giving feedback

  • Students are given helpful non-judgemental feedback from the group This means that people don't say 'I like this' or 'I hate this' (which isn't very helpful).
  • The person giving the feedback says something specific like: 'I think that the ... is quite strong', 'I wonder how you created ...', 'If this were my work I would work on ...', 'This reminds me of ... ,
  • Because we are working on a level one NCEA standard our feedback should focus on the things that we need to do for this standard. (e.g. control of drawing media, representing shapes, use of tone, use of texture.
  • Whatever you say needs to be supportive and useful to the person receiving the feedback.
