“My scholars will develop a “Whatever It Takes” SPIRIT and attitude towards their success. They will arrive to class on-time even though they are tired and lack motivation. They will always have their personal tech put away, supplies out, and ready to work. Stamas Scholars will lean on each other when they have a question or need help solving problems because this is how the adult world functions. This mindset will carry students through the school year and beyond and they will PERSEVERE. Stamas Scholars will see themselves in the stories that I tell. They will ask questions about careers they never knew were options. By exposing students to professionals and local organizations throughout the course, students will be introduced to career fields that may spark CURIOSITY and fuel interests. They will seek information and determine their own path. Stamas Scholars that meet or exceed performance expectations in our class will allow more OPPORTUNITIES in courses they take in college. They will choose colleges and college courses based on their interests and goals. Stamas Scholars will walk away from their experience in science with more INSIGHT into becoming an engineer, a project manager, an accountant, a researcher, an astronomer, an artist, and most importantly, they will feel successful and inspired to use their STEM background to fight social injustices within their community and beyond. They will reach out to members of their community and offer help and they will leave their mark on the world by pursuing their passions and aspirations.”
