About

Mrs. Acquisto

Dear Explorer Families,

Welcome to our class! I look forward to working alongside you in guiding your child through the world that is 2nd grade!

A little bit about myself:

I was born in New York, grew up in Connecticut, graduated with honors from UCLA with a B.A. in English and did my graduate work in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) at Cornell University.  I received my teaching credential in 1999 from the UC Davis/CSUS Collaborative Program.

I began my teaching career in Roseville, teaching 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades and came to Westlake in 2007 where I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. I was honored to receive "Teacher of the Year" in 2013 and have been chasing the ever-elusive "Mom of the Year" recognition (which I am realizing may just not be in the cards...)

I love to travel and have visited our East coast states, Western states (including Hawaii), England, Italy, France, Monaco, Mexico, Canada, and the Philippines. I married my high school sweetheart and have 2 children who, like my students, keep me on my toes and inspire me everyday. I love family and friend time, keeping physically active, reading, writing, cooking, and baking.

I am passionate about social-emotional learning and writing instruction across the curriculum.  I want my students to see themselves as citizens of the world and as thinkers, doers, and kind collaborators. I strive to cultivate a classroom of respectful community members who appreciate and help support each others' learning styles and temperaments.

I also want to instill in my students a growth mindset in their academics and social behavior, emphasizing good character steeped in Westlake’s Core Values.

I am here to help; just an email away!

Thanks for your partnership!
