In this module, you will compare Flipgrid and Seesaw as digital learning tools that can support your instructional goals.

Objectives

  • Create accounts for Flipgrid and Seesaw become familiar with the settings for each platform
  • Learn how to set up learning experiences for students using each tool

Tasks

  • Visit Flipgrid and sign-up for free with your school-issued Google account.
  • Create a grid and a topic relevant to your subject/grade level and share the link in your discussion post.
  • Reply to a classmate's Flipgrid topic with a video response to their prompt.
  • Optional: Add a Topic to the Flipgrid Disco Library
  • Optional: Connect with another teacher via #GridPals
  • Optional: Create a Mix Tape of exemplary student responses

Tasks

  • Visit Seesaw and sign-up for a free Teacher account with your school-issued Google account.
  • Create a new class and decide how you want your students to join (I strongly recommend using email/Google Account)
  • Invite your classmates or other colleagues (or your students) to join your class (Seesaw will provide you with instructions).
  • Manage your class settings (student viewing rights, moderating posts, parent access, etc.)
  • Add the following items to your Class Feed to experience the functionality of each: Photo, Video, Drawing, Upload File, Note, Link
  • Task your classmates, colleagues, or students with completing a Seesaw Journal or Activity exercise

  • Share a link to your Flipgrid Topic in your post
  • Compare and contrast Flipgrid & Seesaw as digital teaching and learning tools and evaluate the usefulness of each--What did you like/dislike about each?
  • Share your thoughts on how you might use these tools with students or colleagues
  • Feel free to reply to another student's note
